660GW of solar PV deployments expected in 2024 – Bernreuter Research

Bernreuter predicts that between 600GW and 660GW of solar PV will be deployed this year. In 2024, 660GW of solar PV capacity will be deployed as market demand responds to sustained low module prices. The prediction is based on the shipment targets of major solar manufacturers such as JinkoSolar, LONGi, Trina, JA Solar, Tongwei and Canadian Solar. The research also emphasizes the challenges faced by manufacturers due to plummeting prices across the supply chain. Johannes Bernreuter, head of Bernreuter Research, highlighted the impact of market dynamics on the polysilicon market and downstream module manufacturing industry. The solar manufacturing industry is currently reliant on low-cost, high-volume production, leading to questions about the sustainability of smaller manufacturers and new markets in establishing solar production capacity.
