A closer look at backsheet degradation in desert enviromnents

Researchers at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Qatar analyzed the degradation of polyamide (PA) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) backsheets used in PV modules in desert climates. The study focused on crack initiation, chalking, and delamination, attributing backsheet failure to high operating temperature, thermal cycling, relative humidity, and UV radiation exposure.
