AES withdraws hybrid solar-plus-storage project from Hawaiian Electric procurement

AES Corporation withdrew a solar and battery storage hybrid facility from Hawaiian Electric Co’s renewable energy procurement due to land interconnection issues. The Puu Hao Solar and Storage project was removed from HECO's project status board. AES remained committed to developing Kuihelani Phase 1 + 2 Solar and Storage facilities in Maui. Longroad Energy faced challenges with the Mahi Solar facility's PPA amendments. The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative aims for 100% renewables by 2045.
