Appalachian Power seeks 1.1GW of renewables in new RFP

Appalachian Power, a subsidiary of American Electric Power, is seeking project proposals for 1.1GW of new solar PV, energy storage, or wind power capacity in the US. The company issued three requests for proposals seeking a total of 1.1GW capacity under different offtake models. Eligible projects under the RFPs must be operational by December 2028 and be connected to the regional PJM interconnection. Appalachian Power is also seeking renewable energy certificates for eligible projects with contract terms between five and 30 years starting on 1st January 2027.
