B2Gold building 10 MW of solar at Namibian mining site

B2Gold Namibia, a unit of B2Gold Corp., is expanding its renewable energy intake at Otjikoto Mine with a new 10 MW solar plant. The company will purchase power generated by the plant. Namibia caps renewable energy consumption at 30% but may raise the cap. B2Gold aims to maximize renewable energy use to cut CO2 emissions. B2Gold plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030. Namibia aims for 60% of power generation to be from renewable sources by 2030.
