Barbados regulator knocks back utility’s 90MW BESS proposal pending cost-benefit analysis

Barbados Light & Power Company's application for 90MW of battery storage cost recovery partially approved by the Barbados Fair Trading Commission. The CETR mechanism allows recovery of upfront costs for clean energy investments as Barbados aims for 100% renewable energy by 2030. BLPC to invest in various energy projects including BESS, AGC systems, and DERs aggregation. FTC approves recovery of costs for some projects but requests detailed cost-benefit analysis.
