BOEM seeks US offshore wind studies

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking ideas for baseline environmental and socioeconomic studies to inform decisions on potential offshore wind energy activities in the US territories. Chief of BOEM’s environmental studies programme Rodney Cluck emphasizes the importance of scientific research and indigenous knowledge. A new five-year plan for offshore wind leasing was announced by Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland. BOEM has issued a request for Letters of Interest (LOI) and a Request for Information (RFI) to identify entities in the US territories with capabilities for environmental monitoring and studies. The bureau's Environmental Studies Programme focuses on informing policy decisions regarding energy, mineral, and geological resources on the OCS.
