Brazil connects 1.5 GW of renewables to the grid in April

Brazilian power sector regulator Aneel announced that renewables accounted for all 1,505.15 MW of power generation capacity added in April 2024. Solar farms led with 733.74 MW, followed by wind with 559.90 MW. Biomass-fired and hydropower plants also contributed. The country has added 4.1 GW of power-generating capacity in the first four months of the year, totaling 202,091.5 MW by May. 84.48% of this capacity is from renewable sources.
