The Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente (IEMA) in Brazil assessed the PV sector's capacity to meet demand for electricity access through the Luz para Todos (LpT) program. The study highlighted the need for PV modules, batteries, and inverters. The levelized cost of energy (LCOE) was also estimated. Authors of the study mentioned the potential of solar energy in providing universal access to electricity in remote regions. The Brazilian government's social housing program, Minha Casa Minha Vida, includes the deployment of PV systems on a large scale to reduce electricity bills for families.
