Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul agrees green hydrogen pact

The government of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul is partnering with agrotech Begreen Bioenergia e Fertilizantes Sustentaveis SA on the development of green hydrogen projects. They have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of three plants to produce green hydrogen and ammonia with a total investment of approximately BRL 150 million. The plants will be located in Passo Fundo, Tio Hugo, and Condor, with a production capacity of 8,000 tons of ammonia per year. The first plants are expected to start operating by 2027.
