California bill may amend ruling that gutted value of solar for multi-meter properties

California has made cuts to solar incentives, but a new bill (Senate Bill 1374) aims to undo decisions negatively affecting rooftop solar for renters, farms, and schools. The bill would allow customers to self-consume generated energy. Three investor-owned utilities oppose the bill, citing potential grid upgrades costs. Supporters argue it would help schools with energy affordability crisis, as experienced by Oakland Public Schools.
