California residents are increasingly pairing battery storage with solar installations. The share of new residential solar PV systems paired with batteries has increased significantly. The shift towards more battery storage came after changes to California's compensation structure, encouraging pairing solar capacity with batteries. Solar paired with battery installations make up about 9% of all installed residential net metering capacity in California.
