Canadian Solar announces 5 GW US module factory

Canadian Solar announced a new $250 million manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Texas, with a planned output of 20,000 modules per day, totaling 5 GW of annual production capacity. The facility is set to begin production in late 2023 and will use tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cell technology. The subsidiary Recurrent Energy, acquired in 2021, focuses on utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
