China commissions 5GW solar project, world’s largest

China has commissioned the world’s largest solar project in Xinjiang region, producing 6,090GWh annually to meet a quarter of Los Angeles' energy demand. Bloomberg New Energy Finance analyst Jenny Chase mentioned China's 'megabase' program aiming for 455GW solar and wind capacity by 2023. China leads in global solar sector growth with 45.7GW added capacity in Q1 2023. Investments in large-scale solar projects like Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in the UAE are increasing.
