Computer vision for real‑time shadow detection in PV systems

A research team in China has developed a novel real-time shadow detection method for PV modules using computer vision techniques. The method enhances information from live feed to identify shadows in changing lighting conditions. The team conducted experiments in Harbin, China, in August 2023, capturing 90 videos to validate the method. Results show high accuracy with F0.5 and F2 values of 0.87 and 0.85, respectively.
