Costa Rica's ICE contracts 166 MW of solar, wind from private sector

Costa Rican power utility, ICE, has signed commitments with private-sector players for 166 MW of new solar and wind energy to meet the electricity demand. Projects will include five solar and four wind farms in Guanacaste province. ICE plans to add geothermal and hydroelectric plants to mitigate the variability from solar and wind. Verny Rojas, ICE's Electricity Manager, mentioned the progress in clean generation projects.
