Dominion Energy Inc. announced that the construction of the 2.6-GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project is progressing on schedule and budget, despite a lawsuit aimed to delay the project due to environmental concerns. The lawsuit, which claims inadequate consideration of impacts on endangered whales, is deemed meritless by Dominion. The wind farm, comprising 176 turbines in a 113,000-acre area off Virginia Beach, is slated to start operations by late 2026, serving around 660,000 homes.
