The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) are collaborating to review the Romanian market’s corporate governance code to align with recent regulatory changes and updated global standards. This initiative aims to enhance governance and reporting quality for listed companies by incorporating EU regulatory changes, G20/OECD Corporate Governance Principles, and best practices. The revised code is expected to address emerging governance issues and reflect stakeholder priorities to enhance corporate resilience. The project involves input from various market participants and is set to release the updated code by the end of 2024, with the first year of reporting compliance in 2026 for the 2025 financial year.
