EC approves the takeover of Alpha Bank Romania by UniCredit

The European Commission approves the takeover of Alpha Bank Romania by UniCredit. UniCredit agrees to acquire Alpha Bank's Romanian subsidiary and a 9% stake held by the Greek Government. The merger creates the third largest bank in Romania with a 12% market share. Completion of the transaction is expected in 2024.
