The EIA expects US power generation capacity to grow by 3% in 2024, equal to 114 billion kWh, with solar being the driving force behind this growth. Renewables, especially solar, are projected to play a significant role in the increase of electricity generation capacity. Solar capacity is expected to grow faster compared to other renewables, with utility-scale PV plants contributing significantly. The US is anticipated to add 37GW of new solar capacity in the current year, and the total solar generation is predicted to rise by 25% by 2025. The growth in solar consumption is outpacing other forms of power generation, leading to positive developments in the US solar sector, which has made substantial investments to enhance energy independence and create job opportunities in clean energy manufacturing.
