Ember: wind and solar have cut European fossil fuel generation by one-fifth

EU countries have significantly increased their solar and wind capacity between 2019 and 2023, cutting fossil fuel generation. Policy support has driven the growth of renewables in the energy mix, with solar leading the way. The EU aims for a substantial increase in solar and wind targets by 2030.
