US-based energyRe has secured financing for the Lone Star Solar project in South Carolina, which includes a 108MW solar array and a 198MWh battery storage system. The project, backed by $155m in project financing and an $85m tax equity commitment, is set to be one of the largest of its kind in the Southeastern US. Construction is underway with expected operation by the mid-2024. Key partners include Santander and Bank of America, and the project will sell renewable energy certificates to Syensqo while supplying power through a 10-year agreement with Dominion Energy South Carolina.
