Engie Romania completes one of country’s first hybrid power plants

Engie Romania added a hybrid power plant to the transmission grid in Gemenele commune, Brăila county in Romania. The 56.8 MW facility combines wind turbines with a solar power unit and will generate 140 GWh per year. It has increased Engie Romania's total capacity to 211 MW. The company also has wind power plants and photovoltaic units. Monsson Group set up the first wind-solar-battery hybrid power plant in Romania. Engie Romania plans to expand into electricity distribution and invest in renewables to reach a goal of 1 GW by 2030. Renewable energy in Romania is primarily led by photovoltaics.
