Engie wraps up purchase of 80-MW Romanian wind farm

French energy major Engie SA has acquired an 80-MW wind project in southern Romania, increasing its total installed renewables capacity in the country to 202 MW. The wind farm in Chirnogeni, Constanta County, has 32 Nordex turbines generating electricity since end-2013, meeting the demand of about 90,000 homes. Engie aims to expand its renewable energy fleet to 1 GW in Romania by the end of the decade.
