EU countries must report energy-intensive data centres to Brussels

EU countries are required to report energy-intensive data centres with consumption above 500 MW to Brussels under Directive 1791/2023. The directive came into immediate effect, emphasizing the need for data centres to focus on consumption efficiency and cooling systems. China has limited operation of some blockchain mining centres due to high energy consumption. Romania aims to promote green energy through energy efficiency programs and renewable energy production.
