The EU needs to double its grid capacity by 2035 to meet renewable energy demands, as outlined by the Paris Agreement Compatible scenario. Current infrastructure is inadequate, causing connection delays and energy curtailments. Annual renewable deployment rates must increase by 38% from 2023 levels to achieve 100GW installations per year. This infrastructure expansion could save on energy consumption and costs, with the potential economic benefits from these actions projected to be threefold the required investments by 2030.
