EU: Renewable energy replaced 20% of fossil fuel production in five years

Wind and solar power production in the European Union increased by 46% from 2019 to 2023, displacing a fifth of the EU’s fossil fuel power generation. The EU aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, with substantial growth in renewable energy capacity. Germany and Spain are among the top contributors to the increase in wind and solar energy production.
