Finnish TSO identifies offshore connections

Fingrid, Finland's transmission system operator, has identified potential connection areas for offshore wind parks along the west coast and southern sea areas. Significant grid investments are required to connect these areas to the mainland grid by the 2030s. Stakeholder feedback is being sought on defining more precise connection points. The total installed capacity of offshore wind power is expected to reach 6.5GW by the end of the 2030s, with additional investments needed for new power lines. Fingrid is holding a stakeholder event in May 2024 to discuss offshore wind power network connections.
