The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE is working on transitioning from low to medium voltage levels in PV power plants to reduce demand for raw materials. By increasing the system voltage, significant savings in raw materials can be achieved. The institute has developed the world's first medium-voltage PV string inverter and is planning to launch pilot power plants with this technology. They are aiming to address the increasing demand for raw materials in the PV industry by introducing medium-voltage technology.
