Google signs first solar PPAs in Japan for 60MW of capacity

Japan plans to meet 38% of its energy demand with renewables by 2030. Google has signed virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs) with two Japanese companies to build 60MW of new solar capacity in Japan. The agreements involve constructing small-scale solar plants and a utility-scale project in Chiba prefecture. Google's investment in Japanese solar power aims to help Japan meet its climate change targets and increase the percentage of renewables in the country's energy mix.
