Iberdrola fully acquires US subsidiary Avangrid

Spanish energy utility Iberdrola has acquired full ownership of its US subsidiary Avangrid for US$2.551 billion. The acquisition aims to shift focus towards Avangrid/Iberdrola’s US transmission networks business. Iberdrola plans to delist Avangrid shares from the New York Stock Exchange. The industry trend shows US utilities moving towards transmission infrastructure and regulated markets for stable long-term investments.
