IEA-PVPS releases global benchmark for solar irradiance data

Solar irradiance is crucial for managing PV assets globally. IEA-PVPS Task 16 establishes a benchmark of modeled solar irradiance data using ground-based stations spanning 2015-2020. The study compares 10 datasets against this benchmark, analyzing DNI and GHI. Results show model deviations based on sites and climates. CERES exhibited higher deviations, while Solargis performed best.
