IEA urges countries to accelerate renewables deployment

The IEA reported on countries' ambitions and implementation plans for renewable energy, noting a misalignment with the deployment goals set at COP28. Only 14 out of 194 NDCs have specified 2030 targets for renewables capacity. China leads with a goal of 1,200 GW of wind and solar by 2030, accounting for 90% of the NDC total. The report emphasizes the need for accelerated deployment globally to meet the 11,000 GW global tripling objective by 2030.
