India clears 2.5 GW of new pumped storage by JSW, Tata Power

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) in India has authorized the construction of two pumped storage hydropower facilities with a combined capacity of 2.5 GW to help meet the growing demand for large-scale storage capacity. The projects include the Bhavali pumped storage station in Maharashtra by JSW Energy Ltd and a pumped storage complex at Bhivpuri hydropower station near Mumbai by Tata Power Co Ltd. These projects aim to enhance the reliability and sustainability of India’s electricity grid.
