Japan allocates 1.09 GW of storage in capacity auction

Japan's Organisation for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO) conducted the country's first capacity auction, assigning various capacities including battery storage, nuclear power, and thermal power. Canadian Solar secured 193 MW of storage capacity for projects in Aomori, Fukushima, and Yamaguchi prefectures utilizing the SolBank 3.0 system.
