Japan needs to triple renewables capacity to 363GW by 2035, RE100 says

The Japanese government is urged to triple its installed renewables capacity to at least 363GW by 2035 to achieve its 2050 net zero target. RE100 called for setting targets in the upcoming 7th Strategic Energy Plan to create an enabling environment for renewables. Recommendations include improving inter-ministerial coordination, prioritising grid upgrades, maximising decentralised renewables, implementing policies for fair electricity prices, improving access to corporate power purchase agreements, and mobilising investments in renewable electricity and related technologies.
