Japanese trading company Marubeni Corp will receive government support for its 30 MW Southern Akita floating offshore wind demonstration project. The project, with two wind turbines each over 15 MW capacity, will be built off the southern coast of Akita Prefecture. Southern Akita, scheduled to commence operations in autumn 2029, was awarded under NEDO’s Green Innovation Fund Project. The project is controlled by a consortium led by Marubeni's subsidiary MOWD, including various other companies like Tohoku Electric Power Co and Japan Marine United Corporation.
