Researchers at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia have developed a semitransparent four-terminal perovskite-perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell with impressive efficiency. The device achieved a record-breaking 31.5% efficiency and demonstrated the potential of triple-junction tandem solar cells. The key feature of the new tandem device was the hole transport layer (HTL) of the top cell, engineered with self-assembled monolayers based on various compounds. The study emphasizes the importance of interconnection layers between perovskite and perovskite in monolithic solar cells.
