Kuwait plans 17GW of renewables by 2050

US firm KBR has been awarded an advisory consulting contract by the state-owned Kuwait Oil Company for the development of a countrywide masterplan for the production of 17GW of renewables and 25GW of green hydrogen by 2050. KBR will provide advisory consulting services to develop a phased strategy for the deployment of wind and solar power, combined with power storage capability, linked to the production of green hydrogen for industrial use and export purposes. KBR president Jay Ibrahim expressed excitement for the project as part of Kuwait's national strategy and highlighted KBR's commitment to sustainability and the energy transition.
