Leeward signs long-term contract for 112.5-MW Arizona battery

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) secures a long-term resource adequacy agreement for its Sierra Pinta standalone battery energy storage project in Yuma County, Arizona. The project will dispatch power during peak load times, supporting energy and grid resiliency goals of Arizona and California. Construction to start in September 2024 with the facility going live in the first half of 2025, capable of powering over 90,100 US homes for four hours.
