Macquarie Group to acquire stake in D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments for US$1.73 billion

Macquarie Asset Management's investment arm, Green Investment Group, has launched Cero Generation in 2021. The Australian investment bank is set to invest in acquiring a minority stake in US power producer D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI). DESRI develops solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage systems across the US. It has partnerships with a diversified base of off-takers in 24 states. David Zwillinger, CEO of DESRI, expressed excitement about expanding into the renewable energy space. Macquarie manages funds like MGIF, MGECO, and METI. Christopher Frost, senior managing director, highlighted Macquarie's aim to grow its global infrastructure assets. William Demas expects their partnership to capitalize on opportunities in the renewable energy market.
