Maryland governor Wes Moore signed Maryland House Bill 1296 aimed at supporting the state’s goal of reaching 8.5 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2031. The bill allows for the reallocation of Offshore Renewable Energy Credits left outstanding following Ørsted A/S’ decision to abandon its OREC arrangements for the 966-MW Skipjack Wind development. US Wind Inc will be able to renegotiate its agreements as a result. This legislation is seen as a game-changer for the Maryland offshore wind programme, with US Wind CEO Jeffrey Grybowski expressing confidence in building Maryland's first offshore wind farm and manufacturing facility at Sparrows Point.
