Massive amounts of vertical PV may reshape European energy market

An international research team has investigated the impact of deploying bifacial vertical agrivoltaics on the European energy market. East-west oriented vertical PV panels could lead to a more balanced and integrated continental power system by 2040. The study analyzed the benefits of vertical PV systems in increasing solar power shares, reducing electricity prices, and improving energy exchange between countries. The analysis was based on the European Power Market Model (EPMM), projecting an increase in solar generation and a transition to more sustainable and economically favorable energy systems.
