Meridian Energy, a New Zealand state-owned energy company, has been granted consent to develop a 120MW solar PV project named the Ruakākā Solar Farm in Tai Tokerau Northland. The project will feature 250,000 solar PV modules and reduce Northland's dependence on electricity from other parts of New Zealand. The project is expected to commence construction in early 2025 and be completed by late 2026. Additionally, Lodestone Energy signed a landmark 20-year solar agreement with Inghams to match its electricity consumption via solar PV power plants in Bay of Plenty and Coromandel.
