Meyer Burger and Solestial sign partnership to scale up space-based solar module manufacturing

Meyer Burger and Solestial have announced a strategic partnership to scale the manufacturing of silicon solar technology for use in space. Solestial will provide ultra-thin silicon wafers to Meyer Burger, which will apply its silicon heterojunction (HJT) technology to the wafers. This joint manufacturing process aims to deliver solar modules capable of powering spacecrafts. Meyer Burger has faced challenges in its manufacturing work, leading to the closure of its module assembly plant in Germany and relocation to the US.
