MGE seeks approval for 20-MW solar, 40-MW BESS project in Wisconsin

US utility Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) plans to add 20 MW of solar and 40 MW of battery energy storage capacity in Wisconsin. The Sunnyside Solar Energy Center project is pending approval at the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. If approved, construction will start in 2025 with the solar farm and battery system operational by late 2026. MGE recently added 65 MW of wind and solar power, with further solar capacity expected by the end of 2024.
