Researchers at the University of Texas in Austin explored the formation of polarons in halide perovskites. They discovered that electrons form narrow wave packets called polarons, which have peculiar properties. The vortex structure observed around the electron in perovskites prevents it from returning to the unexcited energy level. The research suggests that halide perovskites can be considered as quantum materials with unique electron-phonon interactions.
