New EU energy chief to focus on renewables

EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has selected Danish politician Dan Jorgensen as energy commissioner, tasked with overseeing the roll-out of renewables. Jorgensen will focus on investment in clean energy and cutting dependencies on oil and gas. The brief also includes housing for the first time. Each member of the college is equal, and each commissioner has an equal responsibility to deliver on priorities according to von der Leyen.
