New fault detection techniques for air-to-air heat pumps

A Portuguese research team compared machine learning techniques for fault detection in air-to-air heat pumps in cooling mode. They identified four high-performance algorithms. The study focused on AI tools' potential in enhancing reliability of HVAC systems. Python was used for analysis, and specific faults in cooling mode were considered. They used a dataset from earlier research, involving a residential heat pump. K-nearest Neighbors showed the best results. The team plans to develop a complete fault diagnosis system for heat pumps.
