Researchers at the University of Turku in Finland developed a methodological workflow to maximize solar energy in low-voltage grids using vertical bifacial panels. They aimed at avoiding overvoltage events by restricting voltage rise in the network through calculated irradiance profiles, electricity load analysis, and LV grid modeling. The new approach allows for a 46% higher power yield in the Nordics compared to conventional systems, improving the temporal match between PV generation and consumption.
